A spectacular, Grade II* listed disused railway viaduct in a beautiful countryside nature reserve, offering a unique walking experience across its top.

Smardale Gill Viaduct, built in 1861 by Sir Thomas Bouch, stands 90 feet high and 553 feet long with 14 spectacular stone arches. It once carried the North Eastern Railway line across the dramatic valley of Scandal Beck and is now a Grade II* listed structure within a nature reserve.
