Freudenstein Castle, also known as Šlik's Castle, is a late Gothic ruin near Jáchymov, built between 1517-1520 by Štěpán Šlik to protect silver mining operations. Although never fully completed and later damaged in 1634, its two cylindrical towers, Šlikovka and Prachárna, offer a glimpse into its rich history as a cultural monument, despite the main Šlikovka tower being currently inaccessible. It is the highest castle in Northwest Bohemia.
