šŸ“œ A Portuguese bell, taken as a war trophy in 1739, now housed in an ancient Hindu temple at Menavali Ghat.
šŸ” This bell, originally from the former Portuguese territory of Vasai, was seized by Maratha forces after the Battle of Vasai in 1739. It is installed in a stone canopy in front of Meneshwar Temple. Made from an alloy of five different metals, it weighs approximately 1,400 pounds (650 kg). A bas-relief of Mary carrying the infant Jesus Christ and the year of casting, 1707, are visible on the bell.
