🏗️ Designed by Ing. František Duba, its foundation stone was laid on October 29, 1893, and it was completed and opened in June 1894.
⬆️ In 1936, the tower was extended to its current 21-meter height with a glass extension and roof.
🛡️ It was conceived as a symbolic 'guard post' between Czech and German-speaking borderlands.
📛 Briefly known as 'Pacltova', the name 'Kopanina' eventually prevailed.
🛠️ The tower underwent significant renovations in 2019-2020, addressing structural issues and reopening to visitors on May 25, 2020.
