Lake Bled is famous for its crystal-clear blue water and the tiny, church-topped island in the middle. It's a place that looks straight out of a fairytale.
Why go?
It's one of those places you have to see to believe. The views are incredible, with a medieval castle perched on a cliff overlooking the lake. It's perfect for a relaxing day of walking, hiking, or just soaking in the scenery. The water is chilly but feels amazing for a swim after a hike.
What to do?
- Walk the perimeter: A walk all the way around the lake will take a good few hours, but the views are worth it.
- Hike for a view: For the best photos, take a short hike up one of the nearby hills to get a fantastic view of the lake and the island.
- Visit the island: You can't miss a boat ride out to the little island in the center of the lake.
- Try the cake: Find a local restaurant and order a slice of the famous Bled cake (kremšnita).
Heads up
- Parking: Finding a spot to park can be a bit of a challenge.
- Traffic: The roads leading to the lake are narrow and can get busy. It's a good idea to arrive early in the day to beat the crowds.
