Part of the A2 Motorway, it crosses the Lao River Gorge between Laino Borgo and Laino Castello.
Constructed 1966-1969, it rests on 19 concrete pylons and spans 0.72 miles (1.16 km).
At 850 feet (260 meters) high, it was once Europe's highest and the world's second-highest bridge.
It remains the highest bridge in Italy and among the top 40 globally.
