Holštejn is a premier limestone climbing and bouldering area in the Moravian Karst, known for its challenging routes and high concentration of difficult problems. It features historically significant sectors and world-class boulder problems.

📜 Holštejn is currently the most visited non-sandstone bouldering area in Moravia, characterized by demanding climbing on smooth walls with typical karst holds or powerful endurance climbing in overhangs. It is also a significant sport climbing area with over 200 routes.
🔍 The area's walls, reaching up to thirty meters, are composed of compact limestone where the most difficult routes in the Czech Republic were established in the 1990s.

☀️ Premier bouldering and sport climbing on limestone, offering challenging routes from 8a to 8c+ in bouldering and up to 11+ in sport climbing.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Areas around boulders and at the foot of crags are reasonable for young kids.
🎶 Boulder Terranova is one of the few in the world graded 8C+.
✈️ Located in the unique karst valley of the Bílá voda stream in the northern Moravian Karst.

Why Avoid

⚠️ Can be quite cool even on hot summer days due to the microclimate of the caves and north/east facing walls.
🚫 Climbing is permitted year-round, except for the V buči rock from July 16th to December 31st.
🚫 Strict rules apply regarding leaving fixed protection, descending by abseiling only, and not damaging rock surfaces or vegetation.

Getting There

🚗 Most reasonable access is by individual car. Strict entry restrictions apply in the village. Parking is allowed in designated parking lots or near the restaurant.
🚌 Possible to walk from Sloup (approx. 4 km) along the red marked trail.
