Why Avoid

⚠️ Water levels are often low due to the Lipno Dam diversion, making whitewater activities only possible during scheduled releases
🚫 Not always suitable for casual whitewater activities unless water is specifically released for events

🛶 Rafting & Kayaking

Adrenaline-pumping rafting is available on two technically challenging sections:

  • Úsek 1 (WW 3-4, 90-120 min): Suitable for children from 6 years old (with a legal guardian).
  • Úsek 2 (Čertovy proudy, WW 4-5+, ~1 hour): The most extreme rafting in the area, with a strict age limit of 18-65 years.
    Participants must be able to swim and be physically fit. Professional instructors lead all trips.

🏆 Devils Extreme Race

Host of the Hiko Devils Extreme Kayak World Championship, this international event features slalom, sprint, kayak-cross, and team races. Enjoy a vibrant festival atmosphere with live bands, DJs, a camp area, and diverse food and drinks. The river's water flow is significantly increased for several days during this annual event.

Rafting prices (excluding VAT):

  • 1st section: 1000 CZK
  • 1st + 2nd section: 2500 CZK
    Prices include professional instruction, transfer, and all necessary equipment.

📍 Getting There

Situated between the towns of Loučovice and Vyšší Brod. Parking is available near Čertova stěna, approximately 8 km from Lipno nad Vltavou.

📜 History & Nature

Declared a natural reserve in 1956 (later merged with Luč in 1995), Čertovy proudy is part of a protected area spanning nearly 104 hectares. Legend says the devil tried to dam the Vltava here. The first water slalom race was held in 1954, and it hosted the World Championship in 1967, establishing it as one of the world's most challenging natural whitewater tracks.
