Calshot Lightship
This bright ship once guided vessels towards the Port of Southampton.

This bright red ship once marked the entrance to Southampton Water, a tidal estuary north of the Isle of Wight, guiding vessels around Calshot Spit. It is a historic Light Vessel (LV78) constructed in 1914. After serving in the Thames Estuary until WWII, it became the Calshot Light Vessel in 1948. Retired in 1989, it was saved from scrap by the community and moved to Ocean Village Marina, then to a dockside, and finally to Solent Sky Museum in 2019 for restoration.
