Bor Rocks is a renowned sandstone bouldering and climbing area in the Czech Republic, offering over 1400 routes. It's known for its unique rock formations and diverse climbing challenges.

📜 Bor Rocks is a significant sandstone bouldering and climbing area, with a portion designated as the Přírodní památka Borecké skály (Borecké Rocks Nature Monument).
🔍 This area has been developed for climbing since the 1980s, yet remained a hidden gem for many local climbers for years, attracting enthusiasts from the Czech Republic and nearby Poland.

Why Go

☀️ Over 1400 climbing routes are available, featuring unique rock shapes like rounded forms, football-sized holes, small holes, and crimps.
🏄‍♀️ The area offers a wide range of challenges, from technical slabs to powerful overhangs, including over 350 boulders graded above 7A and 140 above 7B+.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Bor Rocks is suitable for children and beginners, with many accessible easy climbs. Summer is recommended for families due to the shade provided by tall spruce forests and cooling springs.
✈️ Nearby attractions include other sandstone climbing areas such as Ostaš, Teplické skály, Adršpach, and Broumovské stěny.

Why Avoid

⚠️ Visitors might experience mild frustration, but it consistently offers a great climbing experience. Be aware of biting micro-midges, especially in autumn.
🚫 Bouldering is prohibited in 1st degree water source protection zones, which are marked in the climbing guide.
🚫 Mass or organized events are not permitted.
🚫 Modifying the rock surface (e.g., drying with a burner) or widespread removal of vegetation (moss, lichen, grass) is forbidden without approval from the CHKO (Protected Landscape Area Administration).
🚫 Placing signs on rocks without CHKO approval is not allowed.
🚫 If bird nesting is observed, boulderers are required to immediately inform the OVK.
🚫 Climbing is completely forbidden in sectors VII, VIII, and IX of the Přírodní památka Borecké skály.
🚫 Respect all marked no-entry zones, particularly those protecting drinking water sources.
🚶‍♀️ Autumn is generally considered the best time for dry rocks and favorable temperatures. Early winter is for cold-tolerant climbers, but snow can cover many boulders.

Facilities

🏕️ Overnight stays are possible in Machovská Lhota, provided night peace is respected.
🚿 Dry toilets are available in Machovská Lhota.

Getting There

🚗 Tourist parking is available in Machovská Lhota on the Czech side. Access from the Czech side is longer but avoids potential issues and fines associated with the Polish side, which has stricter nature protection regulations.

Managed By

🤝 The area is partly within the Přírodní památka Borecké skály (Borecké Rocks Nature Monument), declared in 1985, and is adjacent to the CHKO Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area).
