While an easy 1.2-mile (1.9 km) official path exists, intrepid climbers can tackle a steep, rocky 2.4-mile hike (more of a climb) up a near-vertical cliff to reach a set of natural arches and spectacular views of the monument and Mexico. The arches themselves were formed from volcanic rhyolite eroded by water over millions of years.
